With the exception of the Northern-most provinces of the Taravine and the Eastern provinces that share the border with Lamora and Red Sands, most of the country is covered by a thick tropical rain forest. Further north, is mostly unexplored rain forest and tundra.

Government

Avran is divided into several provinces which each rely on their own provincial government. Each province has a parliment that is voted in democratically, and a figurehead that represents each region during Royal events.

The federal leadership is governed by a Divine Monarchy that oversees international relationships and major national decisions. This federal leadership also includes the Military, which takes direction from the Royal family.

Geography

As the second largest country, Lamora spans the Southern part of Kalyn. It shares borders with Eaglefoot, The Barrier and Avran in the West and reaches into the Red Sands in the South.

The country is fractured by the large Naberu River coming down from the western mountains and run-off from the jungles of Avran.

The most pronounced feature of Lamora is the Kalyn Canyon (Broken Sands, locally named). This splits the landscape in the center of its vast desert and separates it into three ridges that support cities and varied populations.

Government

The Lamoran Empire is made up of a ruling family, which is chosen by a Senate. Each senate member is assigned based on skill and leadership in his/her industry.

The military operates as a separate entity from the Senate, and is capable of making decisions without senate approval as long as the Emperor allows it.

Though Lamora has always been an Empire. Recently there have been some progressive programs that allow commoners to excel to become a Senator in order to have their voices heard by the ruling class. These programs are often rigorous, time-consuming, and accessible through military advancement only.

Geography

Uvar is the coastal country of Kalyn, dominating the coastline of the Saerys Ocean. It stretches into the Red Sands in the South and shares a small border with the Taravine, Avran.

It has high precipitation and has a relatively mild climate year-round. Its western side is thick with deciduous forest leading into the Taravine, Avran, while it turns desert on its eastern edge toward the Red Sands.

Government

Uvar is a militarized country. The King is a position earned like any military rank, and is decided upon based on the Council’s vote.

The economy and development of new technology relies on funding created by war. The council is made of military officers who specialize in specific industries like engineering, medical science, military history, and economics.

Uvar operates with ultimate control over its citizens including curfews, laws that prevent the exchange of information without government clearance, censorship, and mandatory education programs run by the military.

Eaglefoot

Facts & Figures

Chief Executive: None

Literacy Rate: Unknown
Population: Unknown

Geography

In the deep South beyond Lamora’s Broken Sands, and right beneath the Barrier, rests Eaglefoot. It makes up more that half of Kalyn’s protected rain forests.

Mount Stoon, a dormant volcano, sits at the center of the country. Its last eruption was nearly 23 years ago, making it the most active known volcano in Kalyn.

Government

Eaglefoot is governed by a union of Tribal Nomads native to the region. Tribe Kalai is the ruling clan and communicates directly with other countries to barter for international services such as protection, exclusivity, privacy, and occasionally medical supplies.

There is not much else known about their interior functions.

The Barrier

Facts & Figures

Ruler(s): Chief Tribe Asuwah
Chief Executive: None

Literacy Rate: Unknown
Population: Unknown

Ethnic Summary: Unknown

Religion: The Temple of Seven

Geography

Known as Avran’s Shield, The Barrier is a large area of exposed igneous and high-grade metamorphic rocks. It reaches into the Whitecap Mountain range at the southern-most point and fades as it approaches the banks of the Naberu River.

It is uninhabitable for most life and is treacherous to cross without an airship.

Government

Not much is known about the Barrier Wilds except that they are nomadic and the challenge for power involves the entire tribe. They operate as a unit instead of a group of individuals.

If a tribe wishes to challenge the ruling tribe for control, they compete by crossing the Barrier on foot without food or water. Whichever tribe reaches the other side first, is believed to be chosen by the Gods and will rule.
